Furniture
Using my traditional skills and array of old style woodworking machinery, I make one off pieces of furniture.
With design inspiration from my client and the surroundings the furniture will live in.
Some of the features could be:-
- Drawers made with hand cut dovetails, usually with oak sides, back and runners. These drawers are good because they utilise all the available space and have elegantly thin sides.
- Mortice and tenoned doors with book matched panels. Always seeking different styles, I have even made round panels.
- Hand turned legs or feet, again older style but can make a kitchen table really sing.
- I have also used reclaimed materials, including marble worktops and old cast-iron handles.
- Fully sanded and finished in brush applied lacquer to give a nice smooth finish.
Every thing I make is bespoke or to order. I like to use traditional techniques such as draw boring or wedged mortice and tenons and am meticulous about using good quality materials.
I have worked on old buildings and enjoy restoring good quality small buildings, bell towers, conservatories, summerhouses etc. I have been keenly restoring and building my own barn conversion with modern extension, with many quality materials old and new, often re-claimed and usually locally sourced.
